I studied medicine in Torino (Italy) and Maastricht (The Netherlands) where I followed the courses of my fourth year curriculum of study. I obtained the medical degree in Torino with a final thesis about "Inflammatory airway involvement in primary biliary cirrhosis" that was the result of a two-year training at the Department of Allergy ad Clinical Immunology of University of Torino, directed by Professor Giovanni Rolla. Just after my degree, I was actively involved in several research projects most of them about exhaled and nasal nitric oxide in several diseases such as rhinitis, asthma, chronic rhinosinusitis, anaphylaxis and renal failure. Most of the research projects in which I was involved have been published on international peer-reviewed journals.
In 2006/07 I attended a long-term European Respiratory Society (ERS) fellowship at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester (UK), under the supervision of Professor Ian Pavord, with a research project about the link between obesity, airway inflammation and asthma. During this fellowship I also had the opportunity to deepen my knowledge about TNF-a axis in the pathogenesis of asthma.
In 2008 I obtained the specialization degree in "Allergy and Clinical Immunology" with a finalmark of 70/70 at University of Torino, Italy.
My current research interests are: airway inflammation and airway involvement in nasal polyposis, in vasculitidis (i.e.: Churg Strauss Syndrome); the link between exhaled nitric oxide and other non-invasive markers of inflammation and asthma control; other non-invasive markers of airway inflammation; the over- and mis-diagnosis of asthma; epidemiology of allergic diseases; and food allergy, particularly buck wheat allergy.
Since April 2006 I'm the National Coordinator of Junior Members of Italian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (SIAIC).
Between 2009 and 2011, I was the EAACI JMA representative person for Asthma Section and since 2011 until 2013 I was the JMA Chairperson: this enthusiastic experience gave me the opportunity to actively be involved in the life of the European Academy and to improve the attention of the Academy on JMAs needs. The collaboration with the other JMA Working Group members and with many other JMAs was simply fantastic.
In 2013 I have been elected as a member of the EAACI Asthma Section Board.
Currently, I'm a consultant specialist of Allergy and Clinical Immunology in four public hospitals in Piedmont, Italy, and I'm currently a PhD student in "Experimental medicine and therapy" at University of Torino (Italy).
I currently have about 50 scientific publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals.
