30 January - 1st February 2003
Seventy-three pre- and postdoctoral scientists and young EAACI members from 17 European countries attended the Second EAACI Davos Meeting organized by the Academy’s Immunology and Asthma Sections and the Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research (SIAF).
Kurt Blaser and Cezmi Akdis welcomed us to Davos, which was as enchanting as ever. Fritz Melchers, Lorenzo Moretta, Roger Lauener, Erwin Gelfand, Stephen Anderton and Juha Kere delivered keynote lectures on "Innate immunity", "Adaptive immunity" and ‘From genes to phenotype. These were followed by mini-symposia in which promising young scientists presented and discussed their work. The afternoon hours were given over to winter sports, and many junior members took advantage of the excellent conditions on the Jakobshorn and Parsenn slopes. After dinner, we had some unforgettable poster sessions accompanied by desserts in the bar and lengthy discussions.
The Second EAACI Davos Meeting was truly outstanding as regards science, weather and skiing. More photos of the meeting can bee found at http://www.siaf.unizh.ch/EAACI/eaaci2003.html
