I would like to firstly take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended the EAACI Congress 2014 in Copenhagen from 7 – 11 June. It was the biggest allergy event of the year with almost 8,000 participants and was deemed a complete success by everyone I spoke to during the meeting.
As you are no doubt aware, a lot of planning and preparation goes into a meeting as large as this one and it is important that we recognise all the hard work done by Local Organising Committee, chaired by Prof. Lars K. Poulsen and the Scientific Programme Committee, coordinated by Prof. Marek Jutel. I think we can safely say that they helped pull together an excellent event. So many elements helped make this such a unique meeting. The Allergy Bazaar was a constant source of activity over the first two days and something I know is already being discussed for next year. The Plenary Symposia and many of the sessions were also well attended, illustrating that the scientific programme reflected what people wanted to see. The layout of the Pro & Con stage made for interesting debate, and the new E-Poster Sessions helped add an element of interactivity to submitted abstracts.
All in all, it was encouraging to see so many people experience the wide array of resources available on site.
Now our attention turns to Barcelona for the EAACI Congress 2015 taking place from 6 – 10 June. The Scientific Programme is already in the process of being moulded so any feedback you might have would be greatly appreciated.
Barcelona is a diverse city of culture and learning. Its vibrancy and energy will be reflected on the mood of the meeting as a whole. I look forward to seeing you all there for what will be another spectacular meeting.
