Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. – Aristotle

Each year the EAACI Congress brings together thousands of people, getting closer to excellence by reiterating the educational experience, in a spiral course, with symposia, poster sessions, discussions and pros & cons debates, revisited with a twist of novelty. It is with proud eyes that I read this year’s Scientific Programme, which is packed with outstanding research by the best in the field.

Some of these ‘novelties’ are the Clinical Village where you will be able to attend practical demonstrations of different techniques, the National Societies Forum and the Beat Allergy Run/Walk, an event which aims to create Allergy awareness. I am also happy to announce that we will launch the Global Atlas of Allergic Rhinitis and Chronic Rhinosinusitis, written by 206 top opinion leaders within the field.

In the last two years that I served as President, I experienced the positive development of the allergy community, producing better research and resulting in improved patient care. I sincerely want to thank all EAACI members. You are the key players that make the field strong and the EAACI events vivid. Thank you.

Together, we have indeed proven that EAACI stands for Excellence in Allergy and will continue to do so. This we will experience during the EAACI Congress 2015 in Barcelona. I hope to see all of you there.

    Yours sincerely,
    Nikos Papadopoulos
