Call for Abstracts

The EAACI Scientific Programme Committee and the Local Organising Committee welcome the submission of original contributions for oral and poster presentation at the Congress. Abstracts will be considered for presentation only if they are not published or submitted for presentation elsewhere.

DEADLINE 16 JANUARY 2008 at 24.00 CET

Abstracts received after this date will not be considered.

The presenting author must register for the Congress and pay the registration fee before 28 March, 2008. Otherwise the abstract will be withdrawn from the Abstract Book and the Programme. The registration fee is refundable if the abstract is not accepted. The presenting author of an accepted abstract is allowed to register for the early registration fee until 28 March, 2008.

Participants are advised to make their own arrangements with respect to entering Spain. Allow at least two (2) months handling of your Visa application from the Spanish Embassy/consulate in your country.

Instructions to Authors

Carefully read the guidelines below before submitting your abstract. Acknowledgement of the receipt of your submission will be returned to your e-mail address immediately upon submission. If you do not receive the confirmation e-mail, please contact for consultancy.

Invited speakers are not supposed to submit abstracts to the lectures they are invited for.

Abstracts can only be submitted electronically through this web page.

Deadline for abstract submission is 16 January 2008 at 24.00 CET.

Abstracts must be written in English and the presentations must be in English. The maximum length allowed for an abstract is 2 500 characters (approximately 350 words) including blank steps. The abstract title, the author(s) or names of institutions are not to be included in the 2500 characters.

In order to make the abstract as informative as possible, please include a brief statement of the purpose of the study, the method used, the result observed, and the conclusions based upon the results. It is inadequate to state “The results will be discussed” or “The data will be presented”. You may subtitle the paragraphs in bold format in the following order: Background, Method, Results, and Conclusion.

The abstract title and body text should only include pharmacopoeia names printed in lower case. Trade names are not allowed. Non-proprietary (generic) names of drugs, written in lower case, are required the first time a drug is mentioned in the text. References, credits or the authors’ academic degrees or grant support are not to be included in the abstract. Standard abbreviations may be employed in the text. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the full wording at the first time it appears in the body of the text.

Accepted abstracts selected by expert reviewers will be presented in oral and poster sessions. Authors should indicate first and second option in the provided space. Presenters will be informed about the precise time of these presentations as soon as their abstract has been accepted.

It is the author’s responsibility to submit a correct abstract. Any errors in spelling, grammar or scientific fact will be reproduced as typed by the author. Please note that each year a number of abstracts are rejected because they contain no data or the English is unacceptable.

Changes to abstracts can only be accepted until the submission deadline 16 January 2008 by using your Personal Page. From the Congress web site you can access your Personal Page by using your password included in the e-mail received upon submission.

The accepted abstracts will be presented in three formats; Oral abstract sessions, Poster discussion sessions and Poster presentations. All presenting authors will receive detailed guidelines as soon as their abstract has been accepted.

Oral abstract session
The Oral abstract session contains of 6 abstracts that will be presented orally and with 2 complementary PowerPoint slides. Each presentation will be 6 minutes followed by 4 minutes discussion.

Poster discussion session
The Poster discussion session contains of 15 abstracts that will be presented with a poster, a 3 minutes oral presentation and 1 complementary over head transparency together with discussions and free communication.

Poster session
The Poster session takes place during lunch time. Sandwiches and beverage will be provided. All posters will be presented in guided poster discussion sessions. The Poster presenters will stand by their posters during the whole Poster session and be prepared to deliver a "two minute take home message" which will allow the moderators to select the best posters for cash awards.

Please note that also Oral Abstract Presenters and Poster Discussion presenters can win cash awards. The awards will be given at the Closing Ceremony of the Congress, so please keep this in mind when making your flight arrangements.

EAACI can not guarantee that presenting authors who do not show up during the session will be accepted for abstract presentations on future Congresses.

Notification of acceptance/rejection will be e-mailed mid March (contact Congrex if you have not received your notification email by the end of March). The corresponding author will receive all correspondence concerning the abstract. The corresponding author is responsible for informing all authors of the status of the abstract. All abstract presenters will be asked to reconfirm their attendance after receiving the notification. If you don't reconfirm your abstract presentation, register and pay the registration fee before 28 March, your abstract will be cancelled.

Accepted abstracts will be published in the Abstract Book which can be requested on the registration form or bought onsite to a cost of EUR 20. Please note that it will be a limited number of books onsite. The abstracts will also be published on a CD-ROM and/or on the Internet.
